Proclaiming Jesus Christ Through
Love, Acceptance And Forgiveness

THE MISSION OF MURPHY CHURCH OF GOD

The mission of Murphy Church of God will describe what our church is committed to, as a fellowship of believers. It describes our purpose (Beliefs) as well as, our commitment to become what Jesus Christ intended His church to be.

We commit to prayer
We understand the importance of prayer and make it our first priority, as a church. According to Matthew 21:12-16, Jesus declared that His house would be “a house of prayer for all nations.” Therefore we take a strong stance and state that prayer will be the center of all we do. Nothing will be done without first, bathing it in prayer.
Isaiah 56:6-7; Luke 18:1-8; Luke 11:1-13: I Thessalonians 5:17; I Timothy 2:1-4, 8; James 5:13-18

We commit to Pentecostal Worship

We read the words of Jesus in John 16:7, and understand that Jesus stressed the importance of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. With those words. we stress that the Holy Spirit living through us, will be our goal, for we realize that true worship of God does not, just happen. in our church but in our every day lives. This includes how we treat others and how we conduct ourselves in the world. Therefore, we commit to Pentecostal worship that is Spirit led and that affects every area of our lives.
John 4:24; Psalm 22:3: Psalm 29:2; Romans 12:1-2: Galatians 5:22-23; I Corinthians 12:4-11; Matthew 22:34-40

Based on these and other scriptures, we commit to gather regularly as a body of Christ, to participate in worship which exalts Jesus Christ, which engages the heart, mind and soul and which challenges people to live a committed life to Jesus Christ.

We Commit to World Evangelism
We understand, according to Matthew 8:11, that Jesus’ primary purpose in coming to the world, was to seek the lost. We therefore commit ourselves to intentional World Evangelism. We know, according to Acts 1:8, that this involves many aspects: Our home.

            Our community, city, and county
            The minorities, in our area
            The world, at large

Therefore we commit ourselves to intentionally reaching those who are unconverted, baptizing then in water and leading them into unity with the local church.
Matthew 9:37-38; Matthew 28:18-20 Mark 16:15-18; Romans 10:13-15; Luke 10:1-2

We commit ourselves to education

Having read Hosea 4:6, we understand the importance of having knowledge of God. Therefore, we commit ourselves to studying, memorizing, daily meditating and living out, in our daily lives, the Bible.
I Peter 2:1-3; I Corinthians 3:1-3; II Timothy 2:14; Acts 17:11; II Timothy 2:1-2; II Timothy 3:13-17; Ephesians 4:11-16

We commit to being a fellowship of care givers

We have come to understand that the New Testament Church was one that cared for others that came to it as well as, those in the community that surrounded it.
Acts 2:41-47: Acts 4:32-37

Because of this and other scriptures we commit to being a care giving church. that reaches out to those who are hurting and strive with the means available to us. to meet those needs.
Matthew 25:31-46; Philippians 4:10-20;  Galatians 6:6-10; Luke 6:27-38

We commit to home groups

Understanding the day in which we live, that the typical church service, though important and should not be neglected, does not always meet the needs of those outside the church. Nor does it always meet the needs of those who are comfortable with regular church services. Therefore, in an effort to do all we can to build Gods Kingdom, we commit to home groups, who meet with well trained volunteers, in their homes or other settings. in an effort to reach out to everyone.
Acts 2:44-47: Hebrews 10:24-25: Matthew 22:1-10: I Corinthians 9:19-23

We therefore, commit to training and releasing men and women of God to go forth into this world and conduct home groups, in an effort to reach both the unchurched and those who have been hurt by churches. In an effort to connect them with the body of Christ.

We commit to being an interconnected, unified body of Christ

Realizing that disunity is one of the devil’s greatest weapons of the day, we commit to being unified together, rallying around the common thread of our salvation in Christ Jesus. We boldly confess that Jesus Christ has made all who confess Him as Lord and Savior, one unified body.
John 13:33-35; Galatians 6:1-4; Philippians 2:1-11; Psalms 133
