Rick
Lucey's
Testimony
I first accepted our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ when I was 14 years old. I was living in a Christian Boy's Home at the time and I knew, even then, that the road I was heading down was going to be a bumpy ride (like a hard-tail). The word of God, delivered by Pastor John Smith at a small congregation in Bridgton, Maine, hit me like a ton of bricks. The truth and the beauty of God through his word filled my soul and I accepted Jesus Christ as my own personal Saviour.
Unfortunately, I moved from Boy's Port not long after accepting Christ into a home that was not Christian, and did not grow in the Lord. I started taking drugs, drinking, racing cars and chasing girls. I was in the service for six years; that's where I got my first bike. I smashed up my car and was without wheels for a couple of weeks, when another guy from the barracks said he had to sell his Sporty, so I bought it.
I got married when I was 28 to a woman who was not a Christian and we had a beautiful daughter, who is now 20. The marriage did not last long and I raised my first daughter until she was 16. I now pray for her every day, that she'll come to know Christ as her Saviour. I have witnessed to her, and have extended an open invitation to come to church with us (I now have a 7 year old daughter who lives with me, her mother wasn't a Christian either, but through the grace of God, both the mother and my youngest daughter have now accepted Christ!)
I had not thought about God, or his son Jesus for a long time; that is until I met my good friend and Club Brother, 'Wild Bill' Harper at a coffee shop called the "Coffee Cazbar" in downtown Danielson. He witnessed to me, which I thought was humorous because I was a Christian already; I told him that I was saved and he asked me what church I attended. I hadn't been to Church in over 30 years and I honestly thought that accepting Christ and living life like I felt like was okay. I didn't know that I was supposed to grow in the Lord, and that there was more than just "accepting Christ".
'Wild Bill' convinced me otherwise, and I have been attending Emmanuel Bible Church regularly with my youngest daughter. I built a Kawanda (part Kawasaki, part Honda) out of parts in Bill's back yard, and have been a member of the Seed of Abraham, CT chapter for over 2 years now. I now read the Bible and talk to God each day and I ask him to guide me and use me for whatever purpose he has already planned for my life. I trust in the Lord and am grateful for all the blessings that he has given me in my life, thank you Jesus!!!
If you have a testimony on how God has touched you, please share it with others as God has instructed us to do.
