JUDAS

York Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers.

PSA 41:9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has
lifted up his heel against me.

109:8 May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership.

ZEC 11:12 I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not,
keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.

13 And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter"--the handsome price
at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw
them into the house of the LORD to the potter.

MAT 10:4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

26:14 Then one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the
chief priests

15 and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?"
So they counted out for him thirty silver coins.

16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

21 And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you
will betray me."

22 They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely
not I, Lord?"

23 Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me
will betray me.

24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that
man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not
been born."

25 Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?"
Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."

47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With
him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief
priests and the elders of the people.

48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is
the man; arrest him."

49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.

50 Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for." Then the men stepped
forward, seized Jesus and arrested him.

27:3 When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he
was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief
priests and the elders.

4 "I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is
that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."

5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and
hanged himself.

6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law
to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money."

7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial
place for foreigners.

8 That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took
the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel,

10 and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded
me."

MAR 3:19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

14:10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to
betray Jesus to them.

11 They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he
watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, "I tell you the
truth, one of you will betray me--one who is eating with me."

19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, "Surely not I?"

20 "It is one of the Twelve," he replied, "one who dips bread into the
bowl with me.

21 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that
man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not
been born."

43 Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him
was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the
teachers of the law, and the elders.

44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is
the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard."

45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Rabbi!" and kissed him.

LUK 6:16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

22:3 Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.

4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard
and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.

5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money.

6 He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them
when no crowd was present.

21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the
table.

22 The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who
betrays him."

23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who
would do this.

47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called
Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss
him,

48 but Jesus asked him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a
kiss?"

49 When Jesus' followers saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord,
should we strike with our swords?"

JOH 12:4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray
him, objected,

5 "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was
worth a year's wages."

6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a
thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put
into it.

13:2 The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted
Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus.

18 "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this
is to fulfill the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel
against me.'

19 "I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen
you will believe that I am He.

20 I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and
whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I
tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me."

22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he
meant.

23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.

24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he
means."

25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?"

26 Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread
when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he
gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.

29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him
to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor.

17:12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that
name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction
so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

18:2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often
met there with his disciples.

3 So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some
officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. They were carrying torches,
lanterns and weapons.

4 Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked
them, "Who is it you want?"

5 "Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "I am he," Jesus said. (And Judas the
traitor was standing there with them.)

ACT 1:16 and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the
Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas, who
served as guide for those who arrested Jesus--

17 he was one of our number and shared in this ministry."

18 (With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there
he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.

19 Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in
their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

20 "For," said Peter, "it is written in the book of Psalms, "'May his
place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,' and, "'May another
take his place of leadership.'

21 Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with
us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from
us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."

23 So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as
Justus) and Matthias.

24 Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of
these two you have chosen

25 to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he
belongs."
