BLASPHEMY

York Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers.

EXO 20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD
will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

LEV 19:12 "'Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of
your God. I am the LORD.

22:32 Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy by the
Israelites. I am the LORD, who makes you holy

24:11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so
they brought him to Moses. (His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter
of Dibri the Danite.)

12 They put him in custody until the will of the LORD should be made clear
to them.

13 Then the LORD said to Moses:

14 "Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to
lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him.

15 Say to the Israelites: 'If anyone curses his God, he will be held
responsible;

16 anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The
entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he
blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death.

DEU 5:11 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD
will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

2SA 12:14 But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD
show utter contempt, the son born to you will die."

2KI 19:22 Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have
you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One
of Israel!

2CH 32:19 They spoke about the God of Jerusalem as they did about the gods
of the other peoples of the world--the work of men's hands.

JOB 2:9 His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity?
Curse God and die!"

PSA 74:18 Remember how the enemy has mocked you, O LORD, how foolish
people have reviled your name.

78:19 They spoke against God, saying, "Can God spread a table in the
desert?

139:20 They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your
name.

PRO 30:8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor
riches, but give me only my daily bread.

9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the
LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

ISA 8:21 Distressed and hungry, they will roam through the land; when they
are famished, they will become enraged and, looking upward, will curse
their king and their God.

37:23 Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you
raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of
Israel!

45:9 "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd
among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, 'What
are you making?' Does your work say, 'He has no hands'?

52:5 "And now what do I have here?" declares the LORD. "For my people have
been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock," declares the
LORD. "And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed.

65:7 both your sins and the sins of your fathers," says the LORD. "Because
they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will
measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds."

EZE 20:27 "Therefore, son of man, speak to the people of Israel and say to
them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In this also your fathers
blasphemed me by forsaking me:

35:12 Then you will know that I the LORD have heard all the contemptible
things you have said against the mountains of Israel. You said, "They have
been laid waste and have been given over to us to devour."

13 You boasted against me and spoke against me without restraint, and I
heard it.

HOS 7:13 Woe to them, because they have strayed from me! Destruction to
them, because they have rebelled against me! I long to redeem them but they
speak lies against me.

ZEC 5:4 The LORD Almighty declares, 'I will send it out, and it will enter
the house of the thief and the house of him who swears falsely by my name.
It will remain in his house and destroy it, both its timbers and its
stones.'"

MAT 10:25 It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the
servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called
Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!

12:31 And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but
the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but
anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in
this age or in the age to come.

26:74 Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them,
"I don't know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed.

MAR 3:29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be
forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

30 He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit."

7:21 For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual
immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.

14:71 He began to call down curses on himself, and he swore to them, "I
don't know this man you're talking about."

LUK 12:10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be
forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be
forgiven.

ACT 26:11 Many a time I went from one synagogue to another to have them
punished, and I tried to force them to blaspheme. In my obsession against
them, I even went to foreign cities to persecute them.

ROM 2:24 As it is written: "God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles
because of you."

1CO 12:3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of
God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by
the Holy Spirit.

COL 3:8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these:
anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.

1TI 1:13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a
violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.

20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to
Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

2TI 3:2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful,
proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

HEB 10:29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be
punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an
unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has
insulted the Spirit of grace?

JAM 2:7 Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to
whom you belong?

3:10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this
should not be.

5:12 Above all, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by
anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be
condemned.

REV 2:9 I know your afflictions and your poverty--yet you are rich! I know
the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue
of Satan.

13:1 And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast
coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on
his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to
exercise his authority for forty-two months.

6 He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his
dwelling place and those who live in heaven.

16:9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God,
who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify
him.

11 and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores,
but they refused to repent of what they had done.

21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon
men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the
plague was so terrible.

17:3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I
saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous
names and had seven heads and ten horns.
