JESUS (PART 3)

Taken from the HOLY BIBLE: NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (C) 1978 by the New
York Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers.

GEN 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he
rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and
said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless.

32:24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.

25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket
of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.

26 Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied,
"I will not let you go unless you bless me."

27 The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered.

28 Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,
because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome."

29 Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." But he replied, "Why do you ask
my name?" Then he blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face
to face, and yet my life was spared."

48:15 Then he blessed Joseph and said, "May the God before whom my fathers
Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to
this day,

16 the Angel who has delivered me from all harm--may he bless these boys.
May they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and
Isaac, and may they increase greatly upon the earth."

EXO 23:20 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the
way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.

21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against
him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.

JDG 6:22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he
exclaimed, "Ah, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to
face!"

23 But the LORD said to him, "Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going
to die."

24 So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD is
Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

13:21 When the angel of the LORD did not show himself again to Manoah and
his wife, Manoah realized that it was the angel of the LORD.

22 "We are doomed to die!" he said to his wife. "We have seen God!"

1SA 2:2  "There is no one holy like the LORD; there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.

NEH 9:6 You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest
heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the
seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the
multitudes of heaven worship you.

JOB 19:25 I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand
upon the earth.

26  And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;

27 I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my
heart yearns within me!

PSA 24:7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty--he is the King of
glory. Selah

45:6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice
will be the scepter of your kingdom.

7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has
set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

97:9 For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are
exalted far above all gods.

102:24  So I said: "Do not take me away, O my God, in the midst of my days;
your years go on through all generations.

25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens
are the work of your hands.

26 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a
garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded.

27 But you remain the same, and your years will never end.

110:1 The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your
enemies a footstool for your feet."

PRO 16:4 The LORD works out everything for his own ends-- even the wicked
for a day of disaster.

30:4 Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind
in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who
has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name
of his son? Tell me if you know!

ECC 12:14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every
hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

ISA 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a
throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.

2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered
their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were
flying.

3 And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD
Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."

7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be
with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

8:13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one
you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread,

14 and he will be a sanctuary; but for both houses of Israel he will be a
stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for
the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government
will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty
God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

40:3  A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the LORD;
make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.

9 You who bring good tidings to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who
bring good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it
up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"

10 See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him.
See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.

11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and
his understanding no one can fathom.

44:6 "This is what the LORD says-- Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD
Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.

48:12 "Listen to me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am
the first and I am the last.

13 My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread
out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.

14 "Come together, all of you, and listen: Which of the idols has foretold
these things? The LORD'S chosen ally will carry out his purpose against
Babylon; his arm will be against the Babylonians.

15 I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring him, and
he will succeed in his mission.

16 "Come near me and listen to this: "From the first announcement I have
not spoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there." And now the
Sovereign LORD has sent me, with his Spirit.

JER 23:5 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up
to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is
just and right in the land.

6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is
the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.

DAN 10:17 How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is
gone and I can hardly breathe."

HOS 1:7 Yet I will show love to the house of Judah; and I will save them--
not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but by the LORD
their God."

12:3 In the womb he grasped his brother's heel; as a man he struggled with
God.

4 He struggled with the angel and overcame him; he wept and begged for his
favor. He found him at Bethel and talked with him there--

5 the LORD God Almighty, the LORD is his name of renown!

JOE 2:32 And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for
on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has
said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

ZEC 13:7 "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is
close to me!" declares the LORD Almighty. "Strike the shepherd, and the
sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

MAL 3:1 "See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before
me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the
messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD
Almighty.

MAT 1:23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and
they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us."

3:3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: "A voice of
one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight
paths for him.'"

8:29 "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come
here to torture us before the appointed time?"

9:6 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to
forgive sins...." Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and
go home."

11:27 "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the
Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those
to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

12:8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

22:42 "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" "The son of
David," they replied.

43 He said to them, "How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit,
calls him 'Lord'? For he says,

44 "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your
enemies under your feet."'

45 If then David calls him 'Lord,' how can he be his son?"

26:63 But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, "I charge
you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of
God."

64 "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In
the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the
Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."

65 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "He has spoken
blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the
blasphemy.

66 What do you think?" "He is worthy of death," they answered.

67 Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others
slapped him

28:17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.

MAR 5:6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in
front of him.

7 He shouted at the top of his voice, "What do you want with me, Jesus,
Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!"

LUK 4:12 Jesus answered, "It says: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the
test.'"

33 In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit.
He cried out at the top of his voice,

34 "Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to
destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"

7:27 This is the one about whom it is written: "'I will send my messenger
ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'

9:43 And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. While everyone was
marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

44 "Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is
going to be betrayed into the hands of men."

JOH 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.

2 He was with God in the beginning.

3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has
been made.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his
glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of
grace and truth.

18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the
Father's side, has made him known.

3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe
stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's
one and only Son.

31 "The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the
earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who
comes from heaven is above all.

5:17 Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very
day, and I, too, am working."

18 For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was
he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making
himself equal with God.

21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the
Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to
the Son,

23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does
not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

10:30 I and the Father are one."

31 Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him,

32 but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the
Father. For which of these do you stone me?"

33 "We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for
blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

38 But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the
miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I
in the Father."

12:41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus' glory and spoke about him.

45 When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me.

14:7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on,
you do know him and have seen him."

8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among
you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can
you say, 'Show us the Father'?

10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in
me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father,
living in me, who is doing his work.

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be
with you forever--

15:26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.

17:10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to
me through them.

20:28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

ACT 3:14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer
be released to you.

7:37 "This is that Moses who told the Israelites, 'God will send you a
prophet like me from your own people.'

38 He was in the assembly in the desert, with the angel who spoke to him
on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers; and he received living words to pass
on to us.

39 "But our fathers refused to obey him. Instead, they rejected him and in
their hearts turned back to Egypt.

10:36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the
good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy
Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he
bought with his own blood.

ROM 1:7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace
and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

9:5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry
of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

10:11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put
to shame."

12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is
Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

1CO 1:2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ
Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours:

30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for
us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord
comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose
the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from
God.

8:6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came
and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom
all things came and through whom we live.

10:9 We should not test the Lord, as some of them did--and were killed by
snakes.

15:47 The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from
heaven.

2CO 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that
each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body,
whether good or bad.

GAL 1:1 Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus
Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead--

3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,

EPH 1:2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus
Christ.

6:23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ.

PHI 2:6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God
something to be grasped,

COL 1:16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on
earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

1TH 3:11 Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the
way for us to come to you.

2TH 2:16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved
us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,

17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

1TI 3:16 Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He
appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was
preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in
glory.

2TI 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the
living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give
you this charge:

TIT 2:13 while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our
great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

HEB 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact
representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand
of the Majesty in heaven.

8 But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and
ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.

10 He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of
the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

11 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a
garment.

12 You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same, and your years will never end."

13:20 May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant
brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the
sheep,

1PE 2:8 and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes
them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also
what they were destined for.

1JO 4:9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only
Son into the world that we might live through him.

5:20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us
understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who
is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

REV 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn
from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us
and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his
right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.

17:14 They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them
because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with him will be his
called, chosen and faithful followers."

22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning
and the End.
