PERSEVERANCE

GEN 32:24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till
daybreak.
25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket
of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.
26 Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied,
"I will not let you go unless you bless me."
NUM 14:24 But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows
me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his
descendants will inherit it.
38 Of the men who went to explore the land, only Joshua son of Nun and
Caleb son of Jephunneh survived.

converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and
urged them to continue in the grace of God.
14:21 They preached the good news in that city and won a large number of
disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch,
22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the
faith. "We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,"
they said.
ROM 2:6 God "will give to each person according to what he has done."
7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and
immortality, he will give eternal life.
8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also
justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God
who justifies.
34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who
was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for
us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or
hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who
loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor
demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be
able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
11:29 for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.
1CO 1:8 He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless
on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our
Lord, is faithful.
15:1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you,
which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached
to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always
give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your
labor in the Lord is not in vain.
16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be
strong.
2CO 1:21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He
anointed us,
22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a
deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
5:9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the
body or away from it.
15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for
themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
GAL 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then,
and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one
who is throwing you into confusion will pay the penalty, whoever he may be.
6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will
reap a harvest if we do not give up.
EPH 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the
waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the
cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil
comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done
everything, to stand.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all
the saints.
PHI 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will
carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel
of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my
absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one
man for the faith of the gospel
3:16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
4:1 Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and
crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!
COL 1:10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the
Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work,
growing in the knowledge of God,
22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death
to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-

23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the
hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has

become a servant.
2:7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were
taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
1TH 3:8 For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.
13 May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in
the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his
holy ones.
5:21 Test everything. Hold on to the good.
2TH 2:15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed
on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and
by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,
17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
3:13 And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.

I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what

3:14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become

4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me
safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
TIT 1:9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been
taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those
who oppose it.
HEB 2:1 We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have
heard, so that we do not drift away.
3:5 Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what
would be said in the future.
6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house,
if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
14 We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the
confidence we had at first.
4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the
heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
6:1 Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on
to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that
lead to death, and of faith in God,
11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in
order to make your hope sure.
12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through
faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very
clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.
18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is
impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope
offered to us may be greatly encouraged.
10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised
is faithful.
35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you
will receive what he has promised.
12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of
witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so
easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for
us.
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who
for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you
will not grow weary and lose heart.
4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of
shedding your blood.
5 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as
sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose
heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he
accepts as a son."
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son
is not disciplined by his father?
8 If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you
are illegitimate children and not true sons.
9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we
respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our
spirits and live!
10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but
God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.
11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on,
however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who
have been trained by it.
12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.
13 "Make level paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled,
but rather healed.
15 See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root
grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
13:9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good
for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which
are of no value to those who eat them.
13 Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.
JAM 1:4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and
complete, not lacking anything.
12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has
stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to
those who love him.
25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom,
and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--
he will be blessed in what he does.
5:10 Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take
the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
11 As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have
heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought
about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
1PE 1:4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept
in heaven for you,
5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the
salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have
had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
7 These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which
perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result
in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
5:8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like
a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
2PE 1:10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your
calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,
11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your
guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and
fall from your secure position.
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
1JO 2:19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For
if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their
going showed that none of them belonged to us.
27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you
do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all
things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has
taught you, remain in him.
REV 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the
churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree
of life, which is in the paradise of God.
10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil
will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution
for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you
the crown of life.
11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.
17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also
give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who
receives it.
25 Only hold on to what you have until I come.
26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority
over the nations--
27 'He will rule them with an iron scepter; he will dash them to pieces
like pottery'-- just as I have received authority from my Father.
28 I will also give him the morning star.
3:5 He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never
blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name
before my Father and his angels.
11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take
your crown.
12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never
again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name
of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of
heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.
21 To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my
throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.
14:12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey
God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.
16:15 "Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and
keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully
exposed."
21:7 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he
will be my son.
8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually
immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their
place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second
death."
22:11 Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile
continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let
him who is holy continue to be holy."
