1 Corinthians 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

The above passages are used to say that spiritual gifts, namely (especially) tongues no longer exist because we now have the Bible. That is incorrect and I would like to go on record as saying that is wrong, wrong, wrong! But, I agree there are some serious (to say the least) problems with the use of tongues in the body of Christ today. For the most part there are two schools of thought on this subject, I am of neither one.  What I like about a lot of the material posted here, is the fact that the authors have looked into what the Bible says, have you? I own a Bible program called Quickverse, one day I did a wildcard search on the word tongue*, the program gave me every verse on every form of the word. I pasted all the verses into a word processor, I then deleted all the verses that didn't have anything to do with speaking in tongues. Then I read all of them, wow, it clearly spoke to my heart, that the two opposing views on the subject, showed that they were both wrong. My prayer is that God will speak to your heart through His written Word, Amen? Amen!
