The Prophet

The sparrows fly in rain-soaked droves through the storm; the eagle flies above, screaming defiance of the craggy lightning and its thunderous threats. So it ever is with the servant of God, the rarity of a generation: one who is so dedicated that he grieves with God's grief and angers with God's anger. Few understand him; many are afraid of him; but none can say once they have met him they remained unchanged.

His flight is often a lonely one, for his path is dedicated to God with an intensity few can match. Like a blazing comet against the eerie background of space, he cuts a clear trail for all to follow who will dare to open their eyes and believe. At a speed just short of life itself he passes on to other times, places, and people in need.

Miracles often accompany him, but they do not make him. He is molded by the fire of God's Spirit, filled with electric determination, clothed in simple humility and kingly bearing. He knows who his Father is, and he knows who he is as well.

He is never stopped by Satan's threats -- physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or supernatural. He is unafraid to heal the sick, repel the demons, walk the water, call the lightning. He knows his calling and is not afraid to use the authority that comes with it.

He is unafraid to challenge those he is working to save. Kingdoms and governments do not impress him, for he knows the highest King of all. He values order but will not shrink from demanding radical change. He understands that service to God comes first, and then obedience to governments.

He is interested in everything and everyone. He shows equal attention to rulers and children. He remains eternally unaffected by the tide of popularity and the fleeting favors of kings and princes. He does not even seek the reward of his Lord: that His will be done is all the servant desires.

He is not perfect, but he strives to be holy. He does nothing without his Lord's clear permission and direction. Whether in anger or joy, whether in aggressive challenging or hasty retreat, whether in celebration or mourning, he is first and foremost a servant of the Most High God: King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Creator, Lover, and Ruler of Time, Space, Infinity, and all that lies therein.
