More Baloney From the Deep Freeze

Allan MacRae (who recently collaborated with Dr. Newman in
attacking the Receptus of the King James Bible) has printed an
Article in Bible and Spade (Spring of 1977) entitled "WITH THE
RICH IN HIS DEATH." MacRae (President of the BIBLICAL School of
Theology at Hatfield, Pennsylvania) has used this title to attack
the Protestant Reformation text of Isaiah 53 dealing with the
blood atonement of Jesus Christ. MacRae refers to the errors of
the AV translators (errors according to him) as "UNFORTUNATE
MISTAKES." The English words of Isaiah 53:9 "introduce ideas not
in the ORIGINAL and omit ideas the Hebrew contains" (p. 56). The
expression "he made his grave" (AV) could have meant that Jesus
Christ dug Himself a grave, in the boggled thinking of MacRae.
There is not a case in 300 years of preaching Isaiah 53 where any
Bible believer thought it meant that, or preached, or taught it
that way. What fool didn't know that Jesus was interned in a
SEPULCHRE of stone?

MacRae now says that because the word "he" in the verse is
"often rendered" by "they" that it should be "THEY ASSIGNED HIS
GRAVE." Why should a word be changed because occasionally someone
changed it? What about the times they didn't change it? Isaiah 53
is also "unfortunately" translated in the English by "WITH THE
WICKED," for in MacRae's clouded mind this might suggest "a large
group of wicked men." There isn't a case in the history of Bible
exegesis where any Bible believer made that error, or taught it
that way. MacRae (as all the members of the Cult) is exhibiting
what we call CULTIC MENTALITY: sick thinking.

Since there is no article in the Hebrew for "AND WITH THE
RICH IN HIS DEATH," it should have been "a rich man." MacRae
thinks that the use of the word "rich" in this sense "may seem
strange to us." I don't recall in reading 400 volumes of sermons
where any preacher ever had any trouble with Christ being "with
the rich in his death." Any fool knew it was Joseph of
Arimathea's tomb that was borrowed. The English text gave the
interpretation without any reference to any article in Greek, or
Hebrew, in any set of manuscripts.

MacRae recommends a Bible that says "WE HAVE THE MIND OF
CHRIST" (1 Cor. 2:16) when he knows perfectly well there is no
"ARTICLE" in any Greek text, or any set of Greek manuscripts from
any family of manuscripts: two-faced hypocrites can always be
spotted by their CONFLICTING STANDARDS OF JUDGMENT AND AUTHORITY.

"The full verse PROPERLY TRANSLATED FROM THE HEBREW"
(according to MacRae) would "read better" as follows: "His grave
was assigned with wicked men but he was with a rich man in his
death; because he had done no violence...etc.

Having butchered the God-honored text so that it "exactly
predicts the events connected with the burial of Christ" (p. 59),
we should ask MacRae three important questions about his lying
profession as a member of the Cult:

     1. Nobody ASSIGNED anybody's grave, and when Christ was on
the cross with wicked men he was not in a GRAVE; Pilate gave no
instructions for disposition of the bodies for burial anywhere.

     2. Christ was not with a rich man in his DEATH, for he died
without any rich men being on either cross. "IN HIS DEATH" s not
an "exact prediction" of being buried in a tomb belonging to "the
rich" (any fool could tell that was a class title) more than
THREE hours after He was dead.

Such are the ways of the Mickey Mouse scholars in America
who preside over BIBLICAL (?) schools of theology. (This article
by MacRae was printed in the September issue (1976) of Moody
Monthly Magazine. Its Disneyland approach is worthy of the Cultic
Mentality of modern Christian educators.) One more time with
feeling!

     3. Why would He be buried with a rich man BECAUSE HE HAD
DONE NO VIOLENCE? The rich folks are the violent folks according
to James 5:1, 2:6-7.

Any fool with a sixth grace education could have gotten all
of the New Testament connections where they were literal, where
they were spiritual, where they were doctrinal, and where they
were figurative (Isa. 53:2, 10) from the AV text without any
assistance from MacRae or anyone like him: no Bible believer
needs a "savior" from "unfortunate readings" when he has the Holy
Spirit and a King James Bible.
